It was announced on 3 October 2017 that Baroness O’Neill of Bengarve has been awarded the 2017 Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture.
The Berggruen Institute promotes and seeks to develop ideas and thinking to create a better future. The prize is awarded annually ‘to thinkers whose ideas have profoundly shaped human self-understanding and advancement’. The institute said that Onora’s work ‘elevated the quality of public life and improved the very vocabulary of public discourse’.
All at the BSB wish to extend our warmest congratulations to Onora on being awarded the prize.
BSB Chairman Dame Colette Bowe said: ‘I wholeheartedly welcome the recognition of Onora’s many years of outstanding work. The BSB congratulates Onora on this achievement and I continue to value her thoughtful and hugely valuable contributions as a BSB Board member to influencing its efforts to help raise standards and behaviour in the UK banking sector’.
